The Philippine Sports Commission will increase the salaries of national coaches to discourage them from seeking greener pastures overseas.

From P30,000 a month, the government sports agency promised to raise the salaries of coaches to as much as P50,000.

Most, if not all, coaches presently have other jobs on the side either as trainers, conditioning coaches or mentors in schools and corporations.

Class A coaches among the 47 in the PSC payroll get P30,000 a month while the B and C mentors get P25,000 and P20,000. Assistant coaches get P15,000 and trainers P10,000.

These rates pale in comparison with the salaries of foreign coaches who receive $1,500.
