MANILA, Philippines—Rain or Shine is down two games to none in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals series against TNT but that didn’t stop coach Yeng Guiao from finding some positives in his Elasto Painters squad.

In Game 2 of the best-of-seven series at Philsports Arena on Friday, Rain or Shine brought the Tropang Giga to yet another heart-stopping finish but ultimately fell short, 93-91.

While Guiao admitted his disappointment with the team being down 0-2, the veteran tactician lauded the fact that his young squad was able to give TNT a scare for two straight games.

MANILA, Philippines—TNT veteran Jayson Castro suffered a scary fall in Game 2 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals against Rain or Shine.

With 3:07 left to play, Castro fell awkwardly on a shot attempt and stayed on the floor for a few minutes before he received medical attention.

Despite not knowing the full extent of the injury, coach Chot Reyes sent wishes to Castro’s way after seeing how he exited the game.

TNT held off a furious Rain or Shine rally down the stretch on Friday night to run away with a nail-biting 93-91 triumph in Game 2 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals.

Resident import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson showed the way with 28 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for the Tropang Giga, who now lead the best-of-seven series two-zip.

MANILA, Philippines—With the way Ginebra’s PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinal series against Northport is going, it doesn’t seem like it’s the Gin Kings’ core that also played for Gilas Pilipinas is even remotely tired.

Ginebra blasted Northport in another blowout, 119-106, to take a 2-0 series lead over the top-seeded squad after the elimination round.

When asked whether Batang Pier key cog Joshua Munzon felt Ginebra slowed down due to fatigue, the athletic guard laughed it off.

MANILA, Philippines—Jeremiah Gray couldn’t contain his excitement after returning to PBA action in the Commissioner’s Cup semifinals with Ginebra.

At Philsports Arena on Friday, Gray officially returned to organized basketball after a year and half on the sidelines due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear.

Getting back on the court filled Gray with joy but most of all, it was the Gin Kings’ patience in him that made the sniper emotional upon his return.

MANILA, Philippines—Ginebra center Japeth Aguilar showed almost no signs of fatigue in the Gin Kings’ dominant Game 2 win over Northport in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals.

Aguilar, who barely had any form of rest in the past three weeks, powered the Gin Kings to a convincing 119-106 win to take a commanding 2-0 series lead over the Batang Pier.

This, after having traveled with Gilas Pilipinas for not one but two trips to Chinese Taipei and New Zealand. He wasn’t able to travel with the national team in Doha, Qatar, due to personal matters.

Barangay Ginebra flexed the might of its full-strength roster on Friday in a 119-106 drubbing of NorthPort to take a 2-0 lead in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals.

Japeth Aguilar showed the way at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City, putting up 31 points on 11-for-18 shooting, while grabbing eight rebounds for the Gin Kings who scored yet another effortless victory over the top-seeded Batang Pier.

Jamie Malonzo and Scottie Thompson added at least 16 points each in the triumph that put the crowd darlings two wins away from yet another Finals appearance.

The running narrative at the start of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals was that Barangay Ginebra would face challenges in terms of fatigue and preparation and that NorthPort, which has been having a strong conference thus far, could exploit them.

Well, that was completely debunked on Wednesday night at Smart Araneta Coliseum, with the Gin Kings playing as if they had the luxury of rest and battering a Batang Pier that looked shell-shocked when the deficit ballooned in the second half.

Ginebra prevailed, 115-93, with a chance to take a 2-0 lead on Friday at Philsports Arena in Pasig City. Still, coach Tim Cone feels fatigue may eventually catch up with his squad.

MANILA, Philippines—Most of the Ginebra core was fatigued heading into Game 1 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals against Northport.

Fortunately, Troy Rosario, who’s fully recovered from an ankle injury, stepped up to the plate and powered the Gin Kings to a 115-93 blowout of the Batang Pier.

Rosario, who was with Gilas Pilipinas in the last two weeks, didn’t get to see action for the national team due to his nagging ankle injury.

PBA: Kadeem Jack stays positive despite Northport’s Game 1 loss

MANILA, Philippines—Northport import Kadeem Jack made sure to keep the Batang Pier’s spirits up despite dropping Game 1 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals at the hands of Ginebra.

The Batang Pier found themselves on the losing end of a  115-93 beatdown from the Gin Kings At Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday.

Jack, though, said that Northport is still in high morale considering the team still have chances left to right the ship with the semifinals being a best-of-seven series.
