MANILA, Philippines — Alyssa Solomon confirmed that she tried her luck in the 2025 Korean Volleyball Federation (KOVO) Asian Quota Draft for the next V-League Season.
Solomon shared that an agent passed her requirements since it was just online and won’t have any conflicts in National University’s ongoing campaign in UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball.
“Actually, it was kind of sudden. I was focused on the UAAP at the time when an agent approached me and asked if I wanted to try out for KOVO,” said Solomon after scoring 16 points in NU’s 25-13, 25-23, 25-22 win over the University of the Philippines on Sunday at Mall of Asia Arena.

“I asked if it was online or if I needed to go to Korea, and they said it was online, so I didn’t have any problems with that. I just had to submit the required files.”
The reigning UAAP Finals MVP stressed she remains focused on helping the Lady Bulldogs repeat as champions.
Solomon also said she has “another option” in case she doesn’t get drafted but did not delve into details.
Solomon was among four Filipino women’s players who made the final list of the 43 Asian import aspirants reported by Korean news sites.
Maddie Madayag, who is currently playing in Japan SV.League, was also part of the list with her Choco Mucho setter Mars Alba and PLDT middle blocker Majoy Baron.

Reports also said that the aspirants are composed of 10 players from Japan, six players each from Iran and Thailand, five players each from Australia and Mongolia, four players each from Kazakhstan, and one player each from Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
Marck Espejo, who won a title after getting a chance to play for the Incheon Korean Air Jumbos in the 2023-24 season, will try his luck anew as the lone Filipino in the final 45-man aspirants.
He is currently playing in Japan with the Kubota Spears Osaka.
In 2023, MJ Phillips and Iris Tolenada played in the South Korean league.
Seven teams will draft their respective Asian imports in a non-face-to-face draft at Mayfield Hotel on April 11.
The players selected in the draft can join after July 1, and the contract period is from the signing date to May 31, 2026.
