MANILA, Philippines — Creamline and Petro Gazz headlined Pools A and B, respectively, in the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Champions League slated from April 20 to 27 at Philsports Arena in Pasig.

PLDT, the third Philippine team in the tournament after AVC awarded another slot to the host country, was drawn in Pool D with Thailand champion Nakhon Ratchasima and Queensland Pirates of Australia.

Creamline, the winningest PVL club with 10 titles, will face Zhetysu VC of Kazakhstan and Al Naser Club of Jordan in Pool A.

Petro Gazz, the second seed of the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference preliminaries, battles Taipower of Taipei and Hip Hing of Hong Kong in Pool B.

Pool C is composed of Baic Motor of China, VTV Binh Dien Long An of Vietnam and Iran Volleyball Club.

Alas Pilipinas star Bryan Bagunas and Thailand stalwart Onuma Sitirak drew the teams in both men’s and women’s Champions League on Wednesday in Bangkok.

AVC and Philippine National Volleyball Federation president Tats Suzara and PVL president and PNVF vice president Ricky Palou attended the draw.

In the men’s division, the Cignal HD Spikers, composed of Alas Pilipina, is slated in Pool B with Osaka Bluteon of Japan and Shanghai Bright Volleyball Club of China from May 11 to 18 in Osaka and Kyoto.

Japan’s Suntory Sunbirds Osaka headlined Pool A with Al-Rayyan Sports Club of Qatar and Aqtobe VC of Kazakhstan.

Pool C is composed of Iran’s volleyball club, Taichung Bank of Taipei, and Nakhon Ratchasima of Thailand, while Pool D will have Al-Rayyan Sports Club of Qatar, Sports Training Center of Vietnam, and Bahrain’s Club.

The top two teams in each group will advance to the crossover quarterfinals, which will determine the semifinalists. There will be a battle for bronze and a one-game championship.
