Bianca joins Team Carpio

NEWCOMER Bianca Luzung Bustamante is slowly carving her niche after finishing in the podium of the Formula Cadet Novice in the 2012 Asian Karting Open Championship series recently at Carmona Racetrack.

Bianca, the 7-year-old daughter of former karter Raymund Bustamante, will now train under Industria Racing head coach Elson Carpio in a bid to make her mark in the sport.

Carpio, who recently launched his Formula E Racing Management, was the mentor of Tyson Sy and Javi Benitez when they were the country’s top karters and is CJ Tsui’s success this season.

Bustamante was sixth in the qualifying time trials clocking 54.621 seconds and ended sixth in the 12-man combined qualifying heat.  After finishing ninth overall in the pre-final, she rallied to reach the podium.

Carpio bared that local stints are just part of Bustamante’s preparations for a series of karting races.

“I should commend her for her determination and racing discipline which were far more exemplary than other kids under my helm before,” said Carpio.
