MANILA, Philippines—One of the most hard-fought V-League title series reaches its climax Thursday as San Sebastian and Adamson duke it out for the last time for the Shakey’s V-League Season 7 Second Conference crown at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The Lady Stags and the Lady Falcons clash for all the marbles at 4 p.m. with both squads seeking to become the third team to win at least two titles, a feat achieved by UST and La Salle.
Adamson prevailed in a five-set thriller in Game 1, before San Sebastian leveled the series with a four-set triumph last Sunday to set the stage for the winner-take-all duel.
“We won Game 2 but it doesn’t mean that we have the advantage,” said San Sebastian coach Roger Gorayeb.
After losing the first set by the slimmest of margins, the Lady Stags figured out a way to neutralize the Lady Falcons’ ferocious attacking game in the next three frames to complete a 24-26, 25-23, 25-22, 25-20 victory.
Thai import Jeng Bualee, Analyn Benito and Most Valuable Player Suzanne Roces starred in that victory.
Bualee, one of the most dominant players to have ever played in the league, has yet to win a V-League crown in six stints with the Lady Stags, who bagged the second conference title two years ago with Roces and Jinni Mondejar as guest players.
“Winning the title will be very special for me,” the 5-foot-10 Bualee said.
