MANILA, Philippines– National University wasn’t going to allow another lowly squad stun it again in the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday.
The Lady Bulldogs, just three days removed from a shock loss to Adamson, swept listless University of the East, 25-8, 25-22, 25-12, at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City to get back their twice-to-beat aspirations on track.
SCHEDULE: UAAP Season 86 volleyball second round
Reigning Most Valuable Player Bella Belen took charge with 16 points to go with 13 digs and eight receptions in a steady performance while Alyssa Solomon continues to be on the mend.
“I am very happy that the team was able to recover because what happened last game was a bit painful for us,” Belen said. “We should always perform well, even though we’re facing a lower-ranked team. We should have a standard in playing.”
Khy Cepeda and Van Babgayan delivered six and five points, respectively, for the Lady Warriors whose search for a breakthrough win has dragged on for 12 meetings.

NU next plays on Sunday a dangerous Ateneo side that Belen said the team won’t take lightly, especially with a playoff bonus already within reach.
After the Holy Week break, the Lady Bulldogs then tackle University of Santo Tomas in a highly anticipated finals rematch that could very well determine both team’s seedings.
