MANILA, Philippines—Far Eastern University strengthened its hold of the top seed in the UAAP Season 87 men’s volleyball tournament after its domination of Adamson on Saturday at Araneta Coliseum.
The Tamaraws made quick work of the also-ran Soaring Falcons, 25-16, 25-16, 25-22, to improve to 12-1 for the season, even tightening their grip of the coveted first seed for the upcoming Final Four.
The number one spot, though, isn’t clinched just yet for FEU and that’s why coach Eddieson Orcullo urged his wards to keep their focus ahead of their remaining games in the elimination round.

“The 14 players on our roster can’t just relax and cheer for the six who are on the court—they should also seize the moment and take the chance to showcase themselves,” said Orcullo.
“That’s why every time they’re fielded in, they need to give their all in the match.”
Dryx Saavedra powered FEU to the dub with 13 points while Amet Bituin helped the cause with 13 points, himself, plus seven excellent receptions to match.
Lourenz Domingo and Marc Paulino finished with six measly points each in the Adamson loss that sent the squad crashing to a 2-10 card.

UST keeps UE winless
University of Santo Tomas also displayed its dominance at the expense of winless University of the East in another sweep, 25-20, 25-17, 25-20.
The Golden Spikers improved to 8-4 for the season while the Red Warriors fell to 0-13.
Reigning MVP Josh Ybañez powered UST with 15 points while Poy Colinares added 12 to push the Golden Spikers closer to clinching a Final Four spot.
Roy Piojo was unable to do much for UE, scoring just eight points against the Golden Spikers’ stellar defense.
