MANILA—The Philippine delegation bound for the Southeast Asian Games could face billeting problems since the controversial athletes’ village can only house half of the athletes expected to fly to Palembang, Indonesia.

Assistant chef de mission Romeo Magat said he would bring the problem up with the Philippine Olympic Committee and come up with a ready solution to address the problem.

According to the Jakarta Globe website, the athletes’ village could only accommodate 3,000 of the 6,000 expected athletes in Palembang with local sports officials promising to book displaced athletes in hotels.

Palembang plays host to 25 of the 44 sports in the 26th SEAG on Nov. 11 to 22 while the rest of the disciplines will be played in Jakarta.

“It’s a serious problem. We’ve been coordinating with Palembang officials to guarantee the accommodation of our athletes,” said Magat.
