PH Malditas succumb to a 0-3 beating vs Myanmar in AFF women’s football
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine women’s football squad opened up its bid in the AFF women’s football championship with a 0-3 defeat in the hands of Myanmar Thursday.
The Malditas, who failed to advance from the group stages in the competition last year, failed to pull a goal back and yielded a goal as early as the eighth minute.
Last year’s finalist Myanmar doubled the lead, 2-0, in the 38th minute before putting the finishing touches with another goal in the 88th minute.
The Philippines faces host Vietnam, which is thrashed Singapore, 10-0, in the other game, on Saturday as the group stages continue in Ho Chi Minh City.
