Raymond Ryan Cudala and brothers Estefano and Milo Rivera led Fern-C Racing’s campaign in the third leg of the 2012 Asian Karting Open Championships held recently at Carmona Racetrack in Cavite.
The 13-year-old Cudala, coming off a fourth-place finish in the Pre-Finals, bested all Expert drivers in the Finals of the combined race to capture the Yamaha Cup Novice crown, Fern-C Racing’s lone AKOC championship trophy.
The Rivera siblings, both Don Bosco Makati high school students, wound up runners-up in the Formula 125 Open Juniors
Young ace Dylan Arambulo was also a runnerup in the Formula Cadet Expert class and finished third in his debut in the local Mini-ROK division.
Matthew Chan, meanwhile, came back from 16th place to wind up seventh overall, upstaging Indonesia’s Anderson Martono and Singapore’s Mohd Nasri Naufal Bin Nasir in the premiere Formula 125 Open Seniors.
Estefano appeared headed for a back-to-back crown in the Formula 125 Open Juniors as he controlled the tempo during the first half of the Final race. But Japanese Marino Sato caught up with him on the 12th lap and never looked back. Steve Silva, Contributor
