KBL: Carl Tamayo helps Changwon advance to finals

MANILA, Philippines—Carl Tamayo and the Changwon LG Sakers completed a sweep of the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus to reach the Korean Basketball League (KBL) Finals on Monday at Ulsan Dongcheon Gymnasium.

Tamayo played a vital role in the clincher as Changwon squeaked past Ulsan, 76-74, in Game 3.

Former College of St. Benilde star Migs Oczon, meanwhile, ended his KBL season with 10 points, six assists, three steals and a block in 27 minutes of action for Ulsan.

Meanwhile, JD Cagulangan, Tamayo’s ex-teammate at University of the Philippines, helped Suwon KT Sonicboom stayed in title contention after beating the Seoul SK Knights, 77-64, at Suwon KT Arena.

Cagulangan struggled from the field but still made his presence felt for Suwon.

The newly-minted KBL Rookie of the Year finished with seven points on 2-of-8 shooting, but dished out six assists and tallied two steals.

Juan Gomez de Liaño, meanwhile, did not see action in the SK Knights’ loss.
