Skipper Angel Canino delivered 19 points, as Amie Provido and Shevana Laput came through for a second straight game against the Golden Tigresses as the Taft-based squad, a traditional powerhouse, moved on to challenge National University in a best-of-three series that gets going May 11.

MANILA, Philippines — Far Eastern University was set away from forcing a rubber match against defending champion National University in the UAAP women’s volleyball Final Four for the second straight year.
But the Lady Tamaraws lost steam in the next two and fell short of completing an upset in the fifth frame as the Lady Bulldogs escaped with a 20-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-14, 17-15 win for their fourth straight finals appearance on Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“It was really a missed opportunity—we were just one small push away, just one last effort. But NU is NU. They won’t give anything away easily. Still, it hurts a bit because we saw that we could’ve done it, but we let it slip just a little,” said setter Tin Ubaldo in Filipino after tallying 22 excellent sets.

MANILA, Philippines — Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon refused to give up their twice-to-beat advantage after Far Eastern University, once again, pushed National University to its limits in the Final Four of the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament.
Before completing a title redemption tour last season, NU was forced to a Final Four rubber match by the fourth seed FEU.
A year later, the Lady Bulldogs dropped the first two sets as the gritty Lady Tamaraws moved a set closer to forcing another decider. But Belen and Solomon willed their team back to pull off a reverse sweep, 20-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-14, 17-15, for their fourth straight finals appearance on Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

MANILA, Philippines–National University is right where it wants to be—back in the UAAP women’s volleyball Finals, with a score finally settled.
The defending champion Lady Bulldogs outlasted Far Eastern University, 20-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-14, 17-15, in the Final Four Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, booking a return trip to the championship round of the showcase.
Top-seeded National, which dropped all but two games in the elimination phase, made sure there won’t be a repeat of last year’s semifinals, where the Lady Tamaraws forced them to fish for their twice-to-beat edge.

MANILA, Philippines — Far Eastern University returned to the UAAP men’s volleyball finals for the first time in six years.
The Tamaraws, who blew a twice-to-beat advantage last year as the No.1 seed, slayed the ghost of their past after ousting the La Salle Green Spikers, 24-26, 25-23, 25-19, 25-20, in the Season 87 Final Four on Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Last year’s heartbreak fueled FEU to push harder, winning 13 of their 14 elimination round games this year, and didn’t waste its twice-to-beat advantage against La Salle to return to the finals for the first time since Season 81 in 2019.

With their backs against the wall — same as last year when they placed No.4 but took down the twice-to-beat Far Eastern University to return to the finals, Josh Ybañez unleashed his MVP form to lead the balanced attack of the Golden Spikers with 22 points and 16 excellent receptions to force a do-or-die game on Wednesday at the same venue.

La Salle has laid the foundations going into the Final Four of the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament.
Now, the Lady Spikers just have to finish the job.
“The fight is not yet over. We only got the twice-to-beat but we’re on our way to the actual semifinals [despite] having the advantage,” assistant coach Noel Orcullo said in Filipino.
UAAP: Even with longer route, Tigresses have belief they can get it done
University of Santo Tomas (UST) entered last year’s UAAP women’s volleyball semifinals with a twice-to-beat advantage.
This Saturday, when the Golden Tigresses return to that same stage, that valuable cushion is gone. They face the same opponents with their backs against the wall—no thanks to a loss to La Salle, the very team that flipped the Final Four script for both schools.
And with no room for error, both Angge Poyos and coach KungFu Reyes remain confident that Santo Tomas, a traditional powerhouse eager to reclaim its place at the top, is armed with something just as vital.

MANILA, Philippines — Angge Poyos rued University of Santo Tomas’ missed chance to take the No. 2 seed and twice-to-beat advantage against La Salle in their UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball playoff.
But the UST star emphasized that there’s no time to dwell on the heartbreaking loss with a Final Four showdown against La Salle slated Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“The game was close, we’ve only been losing by two or three points,” said Poyos after her all-around game of 24 points, 13 digs, and 12 excellent receptions went for naught in a 25-23, 20-25, 28-30, 27-29 loss to La Salle on Wednesday at Mall of Asia Arena.
NU Bulldogs take winning feeling into Final Four

A door was left ajar for the enemy the night before. National University stormed in and slammed it shut, consequently turning in a statement win even with just momentum—and a lot of school pride—to play for.
Already assured of the top seed and a twice-to-beat protection in the Final Four, the defending champions turned back University of Santo Tomas (UST), 23-25, 25-17, 25-18, 22-25, 15-9, in the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball on Sunday, leaving their perennial victim to pick up the pieces.
The Golden Tigresses needed a win to secure the No. 2 seed and the other playoff bonus outright, but the top-ranked Lady Bulldogs weren’t letting a chance to warm up for the high-stakes stage go to waste.

MANILA, Philippines—National University knows it will have its hands full heading into the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball Final Four.
The Lady Bulldogs trounced the University of Santo Tomas in a five-set thriller, 23-25, 25-17, 25-18, 22-25, 15-9, on Sunday, proving why they’re the undisputed top seed after the elimination round.
Regardless of the result against the Golden Tigresses, NU had already secured the No. 1 ranking and a twice-to-beat advantage heading into the semifinals, where it will meet familiar foe Far Eastern University.
