THE PHILIPPINE Olympic Committee’s announcement of a projected alliance with tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan has prompted national sports associations to adopt a wait-and-see attitude for the coming POC elections.

“We’re all waiting for the reaction of MVP,” athletics chief Go Teng Kok, leader of a small block in previous POC polls, told the Inquirer yesterday.

Go said even the minority block of 10 NSAs which has been enticing Pangilinan to challenge POC president Jose Cojuangco Jr. is waiting for developments.

A reliable source said these NSAs have been meeting regularly but refused to come out in the open until they get the support of Pangilinan, president of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas and chair of the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines and Philippine Badminton Association.

Go, the Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association, said he could persuade five to 10 NSAs to back MVP if he decides to throw his hat into the ring.
