San Beda gets twice-to-beat edge after trouncing Arellano

MANILA, Philippines—San Beda clinched the twice-to-beat incentive in the final four after trouncing Arellano, 82-75, in the 88th NCAA men’s basketball tournament at the Arena in San Juan city.

Jake Pascual chalked up another double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Red Lions, who swept their elimination-round meetings with the Chiefs.

Baser Amer and Rome de la Rosa contributed 13 points each as San Beda improved to 13-2 with just a few games left in the double-round elims.

Emilio Aguinaldo College, meanwhile, bundled out also-ran Lyceum, 94-73, in the other second game Thursday night.

Cameroonian reinforcement Noube Happi carried the bulk of the load for the Generals, who notched their sixth win of the season, with 20 markers.
