“Drifting has been steadily gaining popularity and Jaguar wants to be at the forefront of this evolving motorsport which demands highly technical driving skills and extreme car performance,” said Jaguar Cars Philipines executive director Marc Soong at the launching of the event yesterday.

Drifting, which traces its roots in Japan, has evolved into mainstream motorsport and calls for drivers to over-steer a car, forcing it to lose rear wheel traction and slide or drift with driver still maintaining overall control.

In the competition backed by backed by Monster Energy Drink and organized by Car Porn Racing, drivers are judged on line, angle, speed and show factor.

But the drivers will not just be the top attraction in the festival. The Jaguar XKR will also be showcased with Ian King steering it in a drifting demonstration.
