MANILA, Philippines—Patrick Reichelt struck a goal late as the Philippine Azkals salvaged a 1-0 win over Guam Tuesday night in the Philippine Football Peace Cup at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.
The Fil-German Reichelt converted on his first international goal on a short header in the 81st minute after the ball bounced around off a corner from Jeff Christiaens.
The win put the Azkals atop the heap with the Chinese Taipei and Macau match ended in a 2-2 stalemate.
The Philippines faces Macau next on Thursday before wrapping up the tournament, formerly known as the Long Teng Cup, against Chinese Taipei on Saturday.
The Azkals dominated the match with numerous on-goal attempts but just couldn’t pull it through.
