AKTV brings topnotch hoop action to Pinoy homes

THE PBA’s 38th Season kicks off in spectacular fashion today at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

And as usual, Filipino basketball fans can expect yet another thrilling season as the league’s 10 teams battle for supremacy, with the opening ceremonies airing live on AKTV on IBC 13 at 4:00 PM.

PBA television partner Sports5, the sports arm of TV5, hopes to attract more fans with this season’s exciting line up of teams and players. The league returns from a season marked by box-office receipts and high viewership ratings.

This coming season, the PBA encourages even more game aficionados to support their teams by attending live games or watching them at home. The league envisions more vocal fans rooting for their favorite teams and players in line with its slogan, “Kampihan Na!”

“Like all PBA fans, we are very excited to start a brand new PBA season. Teams boosted their respective line-ups with both promising rookies and seasoned veterans,” said Vitto Lazatin, Sports5 sports manager. “We hope the fans will continue to patronize their favorite teams by watching the games either live or at home. The 38th season promises to be the PBA’s most explosive one yet,” he added.

Sports5 adds another dimension to the Opening Ceremonies of the 38th PBA season with state-of-the-art video-imaging technology. Recent Jones Cup winners Smart Gilas-Pilipinas will be the Guests of Honor during the program. Adding glamour to the ceremonies are the ten team muses led by Anne Curtis, Isabelle Daza, Georgina Wilson, the girls from Artista Academy and Alice Dixson.

After the lavish rites prepared by Sports5 and the PBA, crowd-favorites Barangay Ginebra Kings will test newcomer Global Port Batang Pier in the season’s opening game.

Fans can catch the PBA games live every Wednesdays and Fridays starting at 5 p.m. and on Sundays starting at 4 p.m. on AKTV on IBC13. Radio listeners can also get to hear the action on Sports Radio 918 on AM frequency.

For Filipinos in the US, Guam, Middle East and Europe, catch the games exclusively on AksyonTV International.
