Karl Eldrew Yulo qualifies for four finals at Junior Worlds

MANILA, Philippines—Team Philippines’ bet Karl Eldrew Yulo impressed on the first day of the 2025 FIG Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships at Newport World Resorts on Thursday night.
Yulo qualified for four finals in men’s horizontal bar, floor exercise, vault and the all-around.

“My wish got granted,” Yulo ecstatically said in Filipino. “I’ll still do better and I’ll give my best. I told in [previous] interviews that if I make the Finals, I’ll give my hundred percent and even more.”
Eldrew, the younger brother of two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos, showed his prowess across the board, finishing 15th overall with 78.332 points.

Yulo qualified for the floor exercise final with a whopping score of 14.233 points, finishing second best just below top scorer Arsenii Dukhno, who topped with 14.500 points.
The young dynamo also punched his ticket to the vault event’s final with 13.750 points, the fifth-best mark among the eight qualifiers.
He then secured his place in the horizontal bar final with a 13.700, good for sixth.
Yulo will compete in the men’s all-around finals on Saturday at the same venue.
