Ronda holds qualifiers

ORGANIZERS of Ronda Pilipinas are already gearing up for the third edition of the biggest nationwide cycling race that will run from Jan. 12 to Feb. 1.

The qualifying rounds for the race will be held to determine 93 of the 96 riders of Ronda Pilipinas 2013.

According to Ric Rodriguez, Ronda Pilipinas Race Director, the qualifying rounds will be held Oct. 27 and 28 in Tarlac City.

“Of the 96 slots, the top 3 riders in the Individual General Classification from Ronda Pilipinas 2012 are already pre-qualified,” said Rodriguez.

Day 1 will be held at Tarlac Provincial Sports Complex in a massed start format. An expected 200 to 400 riders from all over the country will ride through a 150-km route that will finish at the Monasterio de Tarlac in San Jose. Only the top riders within 10 percent of the winner’s time will enter the second round.

Day 2 will be a 25-km Individual Time Trial format.
