Dennis Orcollo saw his impressive run grind to a halt Sunday when he bowed to Poland’s Mateusz Sniegocki, 8-6, in the semifinals of the 2012 World Pool Masters eventually won by local hero Karol Skowerski in Kielce, southern Poland.
Orcollo won the event two years ago and was runner-up to German Ralf Souquet last year.
Sniegocki, who also took out Fil-Canadian Alex Pagulayan by the same scoreline in the quarterfinals after stunning Soquet in the first round, later lost to Skowerski, 8-6, in the finals.
Skowerski picked up the top prize of $20,000 with Sniegocki settling for $10,000.
Skowerski bested Shane Vane Boening of the United States, 8-2, Tony Drago of Malta, 8-3, and Nick Van Den Berg of the Netherlands, 8-6, in that order.
