WHIZ Kid Jamyla Domingo Lambunao is in rigid training for the 2012 World Memory Championships set in London from Dec. 14 to 16.
The 11-year-old student of St. Scholastica’s Academy Marikina, will compete in 10 disciplines, including her favorite five-minute Random words category, which she dominated in the Thailand International Open Memory Championship held in Kasetsart University in Bangkok on July 7.
According to www.world-memory statistics.com, Lambunao memorized 40 words, enough points to set a “new world record.” She also topped the Binary Digits and Speed Card events in Thailand.
Lambunao aims to become the youngest Grandmaster of Memory.
More than elated for Jamyla’s triumph is his father, engineer Jimmy Lambunao, who is very supportive of her daughter’s line of interests.
Lambunao is being trained by Roberto Racasa, a member of the PCSO-Mandaluyong-Bagong Henerasyon Philippine Memory Team which finished second in the 2011 World Memory Championships last December in China.
