MANILA, Philippines—Adamson recovered from a third-set hiccup to beat University of the East, 25-15, 25-18, 21-25, 25-18, in the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball tournament at Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday.
The Lady Falcons looked well on their way to a dominant sweep, but the Lady Warriors had other plans and extended the match.
SCHEDULE: UAAP Season 88 volleyball tournament – first round
“We came up short in the third set,” said coach JP Yude, whose squad rebounded from a tough three-set loss to defending champion National University on Wednesday. “We needed to regroup, and by God’s grace, we got the win… It’s a very important win because in the next games, almost every team we’ll be facing is a heavy squad. We needed to go for that win.”
Adamson regained its groove and buried UE early in the fourth set to improve to 2-1.
One of the key players who fueled the Lady Falcons in the fourth was Fhaye Sagaysay, who fired five aces and finished with 10 points.
“If we can move forward from that service area, then why not? Somehow, that’s where I’m bouncing back so the team can catch the momentum again,” she said in Filipino after also registering 15 excellent sets.

The Lady Falcons hope to continue their momentum against Far Eastern University on March 1 at Araneta Coliseum.
