PVL: Eya Laure makes timely return in Choco Mucho comeback win

MANILA, Philippines — Eya Laure returned just in time to lift Choco Mucho out of its slump, powering a come-from-behind 26-24, 20-25, 22-25, 25-13, 15-12 win over gritty Galeries Tower in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at FilOil Centre in San Juan.

After missing a game due to an aggravated abdominal injury, Laure came off the bench and delivered 18 points to help Sisi Rondina snap the Flying Titans’ three-game skid.

“I told my teammates earlier that we worked so hard to reach the fifth set, so we just had to finish the job and keep helping each other out,” said Laure, who had 14 kills, two blocks, and two aces on top of seven excellent receptions.

“In the past few days, I feel like I just got my rhythm back. I think it was only about three days ago. I also had to deal with a full workload, so the coaches and management really gave me time to recover. That rest helped a lot and allowed me to play again. I really struggled after the Creamline game, so the recovery made a big difference.”

Rondina also scored 18 points, along with 13 digs and 11 excellent receptions, as Choco Mucho improved to 2-3 to tie Galeries Tower in the standings.

“Of course, we’re happy because we won, and it was really a team effort. I’m also happy that Eya is back and was able to help. Hopefully, we can keep it going and stay consistent. It’s exhausting to always go to a fifth set,” Rondina said.

Laure ignited the decisive turnaround in the fifth set. With Choco Mucho trailing 5-8, she sparked a 5-0 run to give her team a 10-8 lead.

Galeries Tower refused to fold, with Erika Deloria delivering clutch hits, including the equalizer at 12-all, before misfiring on her serve.

Rondina then pushed the Flying Titans to match point, and a successful mid-rally challenge–which showed Gayle Pascual’s elbow touching the net– sealed the hard-earned victory.

Lorraine Pecaña also shone with 15 points from seven attacks, four blocks, and four aces. Dindin Santiago-Manabat chipped in 11 points, Des Cheng added 10, while Kat Tolentino contributed nine, with libero Thang Ponce protecting the floor with 26 digs.

Galeries couldn’t sustain its big win from Nxled last week despite Deloria’s 19 points and nine receptions. Jean Asis had 15 points including five blocks, while Julia Coronel tallied 20 excellent sets and eight points. Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and Cams Victoria added seven each.
