MANILA, Philippines — FEU returned to its winning ways, beating Adamson, 22-25, 30-28, 25-17, 25-20, in the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball tournament on Sunday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Faida Bakanke unleashed 22 points from 17 kills and five blocks, while Alyzza Devosora continued to step up for the Lady Tamaraws with 18 points, 15 excellent receptions, and seven digs.
Love Lopez, who came off the bench, delivered four clutch attacks in the fourth set and finished with six points, as FEU forced a triple tie with Adamson and idle University of Santo Tomas at 2-2.
“There are times, though, when these young players seem to wake up on the wrong side of the bed. I always remind them not to let that become a habit because it wastes all the work we put in during training,” said FEU coach Tina Salak in Filipino.
“Looking at the pattern, loss, win, loss, win. That’s a challenge for me as a coach. If that’s what we’re seeing, then I’ll make sure we address it this conference and this season. All the teams right now are very tough. You can’t relax regardless of who the opponent is. It’s really about focusing on ourselves first.”
