Adamson softbelles gain semis

Showing  plenty of resolve, Adamson U streaked to two more victories yesterday to claim the first semifinal spot in Group A of the Cebuana Lhuillier National Intercollegiate women’s softball championship at the Rosario Sports Complex in Pasig City.

The Lady Falcons walloped Rizal Technological U, 10-0, late Tuesday, before brandishing its firepower in another 16-0 demolition of Bulacan State University to move on the cusp of sweeping Group A. Adamson is favored to take its fifth win against La Salle today.

Julie Mari Muyco stood at the forefront of the victory against RTU, holding the Falcons’ foes to just one hit, while the Adamson batters had 12 to stay unbeaten.

Blu Girl and RTU pitcher Veronica Belleza held her ground in the first four innings, but found difficulty dealing with Adamson’s bevy of hitters starring Queenie Sabobo, leftfielder Krisna Paguican and catcher Elvie Entrina later in the game. Belleza gave up five hits that led to five runs in the fifth inning.

Despite using their second stringers, the Lady Falcons showed they had more than enough firepower in dealing a fourth loss on Bulacan.

In Group B, Polytechnic University of the Philippines stunned University of the East, 5-2, in eight innings to close in on the top spot.
