ANTIPOLO—Glenn Capacio is making a PBA comeback after being tapped as part of the Converge coaching staff.
Capacio will make his debut for the FiberXers on Wednesday at Ynares Center here against the Titan Ultra Giant Risers, adding to the long list of assistants under coach Delta Pineda.
The Converge appointment came more than a decade after Capacio’s last coaching gig with Terrafirma when it was still known as Kia.
He was the chief lieutenant of Manny Pacquiao, who was listed as the head coach, when Kia made its PBA debut in the 2014-15 Philippine Cup.
The ex-PBA player had a one-conference stint as coach of GlobalPort in the 2012-13 Philippine Cup.
But Capacio is best known for his coaching roles in the collegiate ranks, most notably for his alma mater Far Eastern University as head tactician from 2017 to 2010.
Converge is in the midst of a miserable run of form in the Commissioner’s Cup despite being tagged as favorites to compete following the additions of Calvin Abueva and Mikey Williams to mix up with Justine Baltazar, Justin Arana, Alec Stockton and rookie Juan Gomez de Liano.
The FiberXers are at 1-5 after failing to win since their opening assignment against the Macau Black Knights.
