Ardina four behind with 72; Superal 2nd

DOTTIE Ardina bogeyed the tough No. 18 at the resumption of the weather-delayed second round of the Jakarta Ladies Indonesia Open early yesterday and ended up with a second-straight 72 to fall by four behind Malaysian amateur Kelly Tan at Palm Hill Golf and Country Club.

Ardina held her ground on another challenging day and knocked in a birdie on the par-3 17th before play was halted due to lightning late Friday. But she failed to return a six-footer for par at resumption and holed out with a bogey for the second-straight time.

With a 144 aggregate, the top ICTSI bet remained in joint sixth with Taiwanese pro Hsieh Yu-ling, who made a 73, but fell farther back heading to the last 18 holes of the $200,000 event.

Tan fired a bogey-free 69 to wrest the lead at 140, one stroke ahead of pros Smriti Mehra of India, who settled for a 72, and Thai Patcharachuta Kongkapan, who fired a 70.

Jayvie Agojo fumbled with a 77 for a share of 46th at 153, while Cyna Rodriguez blew a 73 start with an 81 and tumbled down to joint 50th at 154.

Over in Thailand, Princess Superal reeled back from a disastrous triple-bogey mishap on No. 13 but fought back with two birdies in the last four holes to salvage a 71 and a runner-up finish in the Thailand Amateur Open late Friday.

Superal wounded up with a 285, three shots behind Benyapa Niphatsophon.
