PH women booters fall short but draw praises from Taipei coach

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines lost to Chinese Taipei 0-1 Sunday night in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-19 women’s qualifiers at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.

But despite the loss, the team drew praises from Chinese Taipei head coach Ju Wen-Bin.

“We set the bar to three goals (but) the Philippine team played very well, they are becoming a strong team.”

The PH booters failed to recover after Taipei’s Pan Yen Hsin struck in the latter part of the first half.

“This is not the end, even if we didn’t qualify, we will still keep going,” said PH head coach Melissa Marquez.

Myanmar, which dominated Hong Kong 8-0 in its last match, and Chinese Taipei moved on to the next round after emerging as the top two teams in Group C.
