BAGO CITY—Rising star Orville King Olaivar of Tagbilaran posted back-to-back victories in the first two sessions to lead the semifinalists of the ongoing PLDT-Abap Visayas area tournament at the Bago Coliseum here.
Olaivar, a Palarong Pambansa campaigner, asserted his superiority over Dumaguete’s Darrel Victorino, 10-5, on Monday then returned to whip Dick Espinola, 14-4, on Tuesday to become the favorite in the junior boys’ pinweight (46 kg) division.
Joining him in the semis of the junior division confined to boxers 15 to 16 years old was Bago A’s Mario Jaga, who beat Jeffrey Estella, 14-10.
Other winners were Mark Anthony Montinola of Himamaylan and Hipolito Banal Jr. of Mandaue in the junior boys’ light flyweight (48 kg) category; Lemwil Javines of Bago City A , Chaim Pascual of Dumaguete and Kenneth Paul Hentallan of Tagbilaran in the flyweight (50 kg) division; and Alemar Javier of Maasin, Leyte, and Milwin Anthony Ramirez of Negros Oriental in the light bantamweight (52 kg) division.
