Huey, partner snare Nielsen Pro Tennis crown

Fil-American Treat Huey teamed up with American Bobby Reynolds to beat Australian Jordan Keer and American Travis Parrott, 7-6 (9-7), 6-4, and capture the men’s doubles title of the Nielsen Pro Tennis Championships in Winnetka, Illinois, over the weekend.

Huey, who will skip Cebuana Lhuillier-Philippines’ Davis Cup showdown against New Zealand this weekend, bagged the $3,100 top purse he will share with Reynolds and also took 80 ATP ranking points.

Though PH team manager Jean Henri Lhuillier is still hoping Huey can still make it to Hawera for the Asia/Oceania Group 1 playoff, Huey is already in the main draw of an even bigger tournament, the $500,000 Campbell’s Hall of Fame Championships in Rhode Island.

He is partnered with American Ryan Sweeting, the 23-year-old 6-foot-5 Wimbledon qualifier who faced Rafael Nadal in the first round. A win in the first round in Campbell’s already guarantees $2,340.
