Far Eastern U bests USLS to win Unigames men’s football title
MANILA, Philippines—Jess Mellizza fired a hattrick to lift Far Eastern University past University of St. La Salle, 5-4, to win the 2012 Sandugo Unigames men’s football title Sunday at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod.
Mellizza, who also plays for Green Archers United in the UFL, gave the Tamaraws booters an early cushion as he scored his first two goals in the first half.
San Beda, meanwhile, copped the bronze medal after edging La Salle in the battle for third as the USLS Football Field also Sunday.
In the women’s football, University of the Philippines clinched the title behind a lone goal from Kaira Dimatulac to beat Ateneo, 1-0, Saturday.
La Salle defeated University of Santo Tomas with the same score to bring home the women’s football bronze medal.
