ELITE racers from 19 countries will vie for world championships berths when the Philippines hosts the Century Tuna ASTC Asian Duathlon Championship on Nov. 25 at the Subic Freeport.
The top five male and female finishers of the grueling run-bike-run competition will earn slots to the 2013 Elite Duathlon World Championships in Cali, Colombia, on July 26 and 27 next year.
Malaysia is fielding the largest delegation of 20 to compete against top bets from Asian Triathlon Confederation members Japan, China, Singapore, Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Iran and Syria.
Other racers from Australia, Britain, Brazil, France, Germany, Denmark, New Zealand, Russia and Canada have also signed up for the event.
Over 300 local entries will vie in the event organized by the Triathlon Association of the Philippines in cooperation with the Philippine Sports Commission, SBMA Tourism Department, Fitness First, Asian Centre for Insulation Philippines, Standard Insurance and Gatorade.
