MABILA, Philippines — University of Northern Philippines and University of Batangas vie for a return stint in the Sweet 16 when two regional qualifiers of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League get going this week.
After ruling last year’s North-Central Luzon leg, Vigan champion UNP Sharks try to defend their title against four other teams in the qualifier starting Nov. 3 in San Fernando, La Union.
The UB Brahmans similarly aim for a repeat in the South Luzon-Bicol games where six teams tangle from Nov. 3 in Naga City.
But hoping to crash into the Round of 16 are Baguio titlist University of Cordillera, United Central Luzon Athletic Association winner Lyceum of Subic Bay, University of Pangasinan-Phinma and San Fernando champion La Finns Scholastica.
St. Francis of Assisi College also aims to challenge South Luzon-Bicol contenders, including Sorsogon’s Computer Communication Development Institute, Tabaco’s Amando Cope College, Naga College Foundation and M.S. Enverga University of Lucena, Quezon. Jasmine W. Payo
