San Beda, Ateneo tackle tough IPPCA tourney foes

DEFENDING NCAA champion San Beda,  Ateneo de Manila-Flying V and National University take on separate opponents at the resumption of the 2012 IPPCA Football Pre-Season Cup today at Nuvali Field in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

San Beda, which sailed past the University of Makati, 3-0, in the opener, tests the mettle of Arellano U in one of the featured matches over at Pitch 2.

The Blue Eagles, who played the De La Salle Archers-Filoil to a scoreless draw in the opener, tackle the Perpetual Help Altas  at 1 p.m. The Altas dropped their initial assignment, 1-2, against the College of St. Benilde Blazers in the opener.

The Philippine Christian U Dolphins,  who forced a 2-2 draw with the NU Bulldogs two weeks ago, battle the Mapua Cardinals in the opening match at Pitch 3.  The Cardinals dropped a 0-1 decision against the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals last Saturday.

Over at Pitch 3, the NU Bulldogs  and the EAC Generals clash at 3 p.m. to cap today’s  schedule in the tournament organized by Filoil Sports and sponsored by Meralco, Nuvali, Nature’s Spring, Molten, N20 Gastropub, Boysen Paints, BDO, Topcoms/StarSports Korea, Bacchus, CDO San Marino and Pingping Lechon.

Tomorrow, the Archers battle the Blazers to open hostilities at Pitch 2, followed by the match between debuting guest team Rizal Technological U and Far Eastern University at 1 p.m. In the lone seniors game at Pitch 3, the University of Santo Tomas-Metroil  takes on the University of Makati at 1 p.m.
