Hoping to sustain its surprise start, Cagayan Valley guns for a third straight victory when it faces Erase Xfoliant in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at 2 p.m. today at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

“There are still many things to improve on,” said coach Alvin Pua after his Rising Suns won two close games. “We still lack maturity. We always hurry on our offensive plays, that’s why we have many turnovers. Good thing we always find ways to win.”

Big Chill, which won its first assignment on a buzzer-beater, tackles Blackwater Sports in the second game at 4 p.m.

“We’re still adjusting,” Big Chill coach Robert Sison said of his retooled roster.

Big Chill slipped past Jose Rizal U-Air 21, 77-76, behind Mark Canlas, who fired the Superchargers’ last seven points, including the game-winner.

Karim Abdul, the Cameroonian center who powered the Tigers to the UAAP Finals, teams up anew with UST stars Jeric Fortuna and Kevin Ferrer along with Blackwater veterans.

Meanwhile, PBA commissioner Chito Salud slapped Café France’s Marion Magat, Fruitas’ Jumbo Escueta and JRU-Air 21’s Michael Miranda with a P2,500 fine each for various infractions in their recent games.
