WITH their backs against the wall, Loyola Meralco and Pachanga posted contrasting wins Monday night to gain the UFL Cup quarterfinals at University of Makati field.
Phil Younghusband netted five goals as the Sparks scored a 12-0 demolition of Mendiola, before Pachanga leaned on a late goal from captain Yves Ashime to slip past Laos, 3-2.
Korean standouts Jang Jo-won and Jeong Byeong-yeol also struck twice for the Sparks, who finished on top of Group C ahead of Pachanga on goal difference. Peter Fadrigalan, Chad Gould and Mark Hartmann also scored.
The Sparks will face Army in the last eight with the winner clashing with the victor of the Global-Kaya match scheduled last night.
Pachanga battles Group B winner Green Archers United. The other quarter final duel pits Stallion and General Trias.
