MANILA, Philippines—Jose Rizal University defeated St. Clare, 78-71, Wednesday to remain in the hunt for a slot in the Sweet 16 of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League.
The Bombers face University of the East Thursday to determine who gets one of the two slots at stake in the three-day Metro Manila Qualifiers.
Adamson and Mapua, meanwhile, remained undefeated so far after bundling out separate foes in the first two games at The Arena in San Juan city.
Adamson blew out Centro Escolar University, 89-70, while Mapua barely got past Philippine Merchant Marine School, 74-70.
The Red Warriors also prevailed over still winless St. Francis, 82-74, in the night cap.
The top two squads to emerge in the eight-team Metro Manila qualifiers get a chance to move on to the top 16 of the nationwide tournament.
