Aunzo heavy favorite in ICTSI N’woods leg

Minus its usual stars, Ferdie Aunzo is the prohibitive favorite to retain his ICTSI-Royal Northwoods championship starting Wednesday at the rolling layout in San Rafael town in Bulacan. The former RP amateur ace will try to become just the second man behind Juvic Pagunsan to repeat against a somewhat weakened field eager to pounce on the absence of the big guns. Pagunsan, the runaway leader in the Order of Merit race, Angelo Que and Artemio Murakami will all skip the event because of prior commitment overseas. But that doesn’t mean that the Northwoods leg would be a cakewalk for anyone, with reigning Philippine Open champion Elmer Salvador, who has not won in a while, Mars Pucay, Benjie Magada, Antonio Lascuna still entered. “It will be tough since the field remains strong,” Aunzo.
