Adamson grabs spot in PCCL Sweet 16 after defeating Mapua

MANILA, Philippines—Adamson foiled Mapua, 88-79, Thursday to clinch a spot in the Sweet 16 at stake in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) Metro Manila Qualifiers.

Jericho Cruz continued his fine showing from the UAAP to the PCCL and hit the 20-point mark anew to lead the Falcons.

Adamson faces the winner of the other top team in the Metro Manila qualifiers in the Sweet 16—where top squads from other leagues nationwide also come to play.

Jose Rizal University and University of the East are disputing the other ticket to the knockout phase at The Arena in San Juan city as of posting time.

Naascu titlist St. Clare kept St. Francis winless at the end of the three-day qualifiers, 60-52, while MNCAA champ Centro Escolar defeated PMMS, 76-73.

All those four teams failed to make it to the next round.
