EUROPEAN riders are turning the 2012 World Cable Wakeboard Championships into their own personal playground.
Brandishing their flair and topnotch ability, Europe’s finest continued to lord over the field in the open men and ladies events at the Deca Wake Board Park in Clark, Angeles City.
Sanne Meijet of the Netherlands, the reigning Europe and Africa titlist, sustained her dominance by topping the girls’ event with Germany’s Vanessa Weinhauer, the runner-up in the E&A, repeating a silver performance in the Clark competitions while Lottie Harbottle, the No. 2 in the British Nationals, took the bronze.
Not to be outdone, Hegadus Akos, who also topped the Europe and Africa events, brought home the prestigious title of boys’ world champion. Settling for second and third were Britain’s top two riders, Harry Eames and reigning British champ Ryan Peacock.
The European dominance also extended to the masters division where Frenchman Raphael Menconi dethroned 2010 champ Wolfram Wagner of Germany for the title.
In the wakeskate events, Israel’s Ori Boujo (junior ladies) and France’s Clément De Prémonville (junior men’s) took gold medals.
The open men’s semifinals and the finals of the junior ladies and junior men’s divisions are slated today. Cedelf P. Tupas
