UST, EAC booters barge into semifinals
UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas-Metroil overwhelmed NCAA champion San Beda, 4-1, Sunday to clinch a semifinal berth in the 2012 IPPCA Football Pre-Season Cup at Nuvali Field in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
The win pushed UST to the top of Group C, where the Tigers finished with a maximum of nine points on three victories.
Also moving into the semifinals was Emilio Aguinaldo College, which hammered out a 3-1 triumph over Philippine Christian U-Cavite to grab top spot in Group B.
Coming off a victorious effort in the University Games, Far Eastern U earlier booked its place in the semifinals after topping Group A.

The Eagles will be hoping that La Salle-Flying V loses to Perpetual Help tomorrow to automatically make the next round.
In the junior division, San Beda clipped Arellano, 3-2, to join Far Eastern U-Fern and De La Salle Zobel in the semis.

In other senior matches, University of the Philippines topped Rizal Technological University, 2-0, in Group A while Arellano University downed University of Makati, 8-0, in Group C.
The individual awardees Sunday were Alvin Obero of Arellano as Seaoil Best Striker, Donnel Nicholas of Ateneo as Metroil Best Goalkeeper, Jeremy Mabanag, also of Ateneo, as the Unioil Best Midfielder, another Blue Eagle, Enzo Bonoan as Flying V Best Defender and the RTU team as the Eastern Fair Play team.
