MANILA, Philippines — It will be a long Saturday for Manny Pacquiao, who’ll take on an additional chore after training and sparring at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles.
Pacquiao, who’s preparing for his fourth showdown against Juan Manuel Marquez on Dec. 8, will proceed to the Los Angeles Sports Arena in the evening to be a commentator in the world flyweight crown unification bout between Fil-Am Brian Viloria and Mexican Hernan “Tyson” Marquez.
Viloria, who trains with Pacquiao at Wild Card under the supervision of chief trainer Freddie Roach, is the reigning WBO titlist while Marquez, the WBA champ, is being trained by compatriot Robert Garcia in Oxnard, California.
According to Philboxing, Pacquiao will be doing the commentary of Viloria-Marquez which will be aired Sunday afternoon on GMA-7, with broadcasters Chino Trinidad and Quinito Henson.
In addition, Pacquiao, the lone eight-division world champion, will reportedly have a part in the Mexican broadcast through Azteca 7 and will also work in the undercard pitting Filipino bantamweight prospect Drian Francisco against Tijuana’s Javier Gallo.
Other boxing luminaries attending the fight card dubbed Champion vs Champion are former world heavyweight champion Larry Holmes and Mexican greats Julio Cesar Chávez and Marco Antonio Barrera who are part of the TV Azteca broadcast team.
To erase doubts about the legitimacy of his split decision and majority decision triumphs over Marquez in their 2008 and 2011 collisions, respectively, Pacquiao has promised to knock Marquez out when they tangle anew at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Roy Luarca
