HOLY Angel University captured the Passerelle crown and Don Bosco Academy bagged the Small Basketeers Philippines title in the Luzon qualifying leg of the Milo 2012 Basketball Efficiency Scientific Training (BEST) Center over the weekend at University of Assumption gym in San Fernando, Pampanga.
Jouel Francis Luna, Antonio Jeffrey Coronel and Domi-elle Sunga teamed up for 34 points to power Holy Angel past Baguio’s St. Louis College, 87-44, in the Passerelle finals.
Don Bosco Academy downed Berkeley School of Baguio, 63-47, with Amchel David Angeles firing 24 points in the SBP title match.
Angeles drilled 14 points in the second quarter to lead Don Bosco to a 29-19 lead.
Joseph Benedict Tiglao chipped in 11 markers to help lift the Mabalacat, Pampanga-based squad.
Holy Angel built a 43-27 lead at the half, before the Angeles City-based crew held St. Louis to only three points in the third quarter.
Jerwin Bumatay paced St. Louis with nine points, while Patrick Andrew Rebugio had 13 for Berkeley, which also bagged the SBP sportsmanship honors.
St. Albert the Great School of Dagupan, which also earned a sportsmanship recognition, took third place in Passerelle.
Sacred Heart College of Lucena similarly settled for third in the SBP division.
The Visayas leg championship of the first scientific school of basketball in Asia is set on Nov. 17 and 18 in Iloilo City, before the 2012 SBP-Passerelle National Finals gets going from Dec. 1 to 2 in Roxas City. Jasmine W. Payo
