Viloria, Marquez weigh-in ahead of bout Sunday in US

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino bet Brian “The Hawaiian Punch” Viloria and Mexican Hernán “Tyson” Marquez tipped the scales Saturday for their much-anticipated flyweight unification bout Sunday at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.

Viloria (31-3, 18 KOs) weighed at 111.8lbs while the younger Marquez (34-2, 25 KOs) was exactly a pound lighter during the official weigh-in at the the Los Angeles Sports Arena.

Both explosive fighters vowed an all-out war in their 12-round fight.

The 31-year-old Viloria has been on a roll with three of his five-fight streak ending via TKO.

Both Viloria and the 24-year-old Marquez, whose two losses were dealt by Filipinos – four-division world champion Nonito Donaire Jr. and Richie Mepranum – are in their third defense of their respective titles.

Marquez captured the WBA flyweight crown when he stopped Panama’s Luis Concepcion in the 11th round while Viloria seized the WBO world flyweight belt after defeating Mexico’s Julio Cesar Miranda via unanimous decision.

Meanwhile, Drian Francisco, a world-rated Filipino pug, weighed in at 120lbs while Mexican opponent Javier Gallo tipped at 119. Both will slug it out in the 122-pound division as part of the Viloria-Marquez undercard.
