HOPE Christian High School primes up for another championship in the Shakey’s Girls’ Volleyball League as it heads a crack 10-team field vying in the National Capital Region tournament beginning Nov. 30.
The Hope Christian tossers have dominated the league for the country’s leading high school players, winning seven of nine titles.
But the school expects tougher competition this time with the rest of the 10-team field boosting their respective rosters during the off-season.
To bring it closer to the fans and further give it a mainstream appeal, the organizing Metro Sports and sponsoring Shakey’s Pizza have tapped the Rizal Memorial Coliseum as the tournament’s new home.
“We hope the Shakey’s GVL will continue to grow in the coming years,” said Metro Sports president Freddie Infante.
The Nov. 30 opening will start at 11 a.m. with the succeeding games set on Dec. 1, 2, 8 and 9. The NCR finals will be held Dec. 16.
Meanwhile, the chase for berths in the T-of-C got under way yesterday with the Central Luzon regionals with the Southern Luzon eliminations set to fire off Nov. 22.
The winners of the regional tournaments will advance to the T-of-C set Jan. 22-26, 2013.
