Viloria ready for fight vs Mexican champ

Former two-time world light flyweight champion Brian Viloria is in the best shape of his life for his title fight against WBO flyweight champion Julio Cesar “Pingo” Miranda of Mexico at the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu this Sunday.

“It will be a tough fight but he is ready to become a three-time champion,” Viloria’s manager Gary Gittelsohn told the Inquirer, yesterday.

“Training has been excellent and one of the best camps I’ve had in a long time,” the 30-year-old Viloria said in an interview from Hawaii. “I’ve been training since January for this fight and I’m ready and really looking forward to it. I really can’t wait anymore.

Known as the “Hawaiian Punch”, Viloria said he is more comfortable fighting as a flyweight and “really don’t know how I made 108. It gives you an idea of how much work I put in to come down to 108.”

Viloria (28-3, 16 KOs)  has been training at the Kalihi Gym in Honolulu and the Maywood Gym in California.
Miranda has a record of 35-5-1 with 28 knockouts.
