CSB, Arellano score in NCAA women’s volleyball

MANILA, Philippines – College of St. Benilde and Arellano University easily beat their respective opponents Thursday in the NCAA Season 88 women’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Blazers turned back Lyceum, 25-19, 25-22, 25-9 while the Lady Chiefs thwarted Jose Rizal University, 25-20, 25-10, 25-13.

Jannine Navarro and Rossan Fajardo led CSB with 16 points apiece.

In men’s play, Lyceum shook off a lethargic start to defeat St. Benilde, 22-25, 25-16, 25-14, 25-23.

The Pirates leaned on Gerson Labiano, who unleashed 22 points, 20 of which were power shots.

Marjun Alingasa paced the Blazers with 14 markers.
