Folayang set to defend URCC title

Eduard Folayang will test his superb striking skills against unbeaten American Lowen Tynanes in the Colt 45 URCC 22: Dekada MMA Tournament on Dec. 1 at SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Undefeated in 15 amateur and three professional fights, Tynanes, a ground specialist, is expected to bring the combat to the floor, one of Folayang’s weaknesses.

“I have an edge when it comes to striking but he’s a strong wrestler, so I’m working to build up stamina and improve my ground skills,” said Folayang, who will put his Super Fight Title on the line. The URCC lightweight champion and ONE FC star had floored five of his opponents in 12 wins out of 14 cage fights.

Tynanes, a former all-American wrestler, is the King of the Cage champion, an MMA outfit based in the United States, in the 155-lb division.

URCC featherweight champion Eric Kelly, who also signed a contract with Singapore-based ONE FC, will defend his title against Brad Terrey of Phuket Top Team in the other featured bout.

Jessie Rafols will stake his bantamweight belt against Keiff Mangusan of Baguio To Team while Froilan Sarenas will be defending his middleweight title on the same night as well.
