UNBEATEN Far Eastern U and La Salle go for a rare double championship when their seniors and juniors squads clash today in the finals of the 2012 Independent Philippine Petroleum Companies Association Football Pre-Season Cup at Ateneo High School Field in Loyola Heights, Quezon City.
The Tamaraws topped Group A with three wins for 9 points, then edged Emilio Aguinaldo College, 4-3, in a penalty shootout to advance to the finals against the Archers.
La Salle-Flying V was held to a scoreless draw by Ateneo-Filoil in its first game before posting successive wins, including an 8-0 decision of Perpetual, to top Group B.
In the Final Four, the Green Archers nipped University of Santo Tomas-Metroil Growling Tigers to seal today’s final with the Tamaraws at 3 p.m.
In juniors play, the Baby Tamaraws, who topped Group C with three straight wins, including a 43-0 demolition of the Letran Squires, bested the Eaglets, 5-0, in the semifinals while the Junior Archers downed the San Beda Red Cubs, 3-1, to gain the finals.
